As part of the ETF Awareness Week celebration, the First Metro Philippine Equity Exchange-Traded Fund (FMETF) and the Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc. (PSE) conducted ETF 101 Webinars on December 9 & 16, 2016, led by Mr. Mhelvin Abajon and Mr. Alexander Gilles, respectively.
The PSE and FMETF’s collaboration aims to increase the investing public’s awareness and understanding of exchange-traded funds, to better equip them to invest, and to increase market participation through information campaigns.
“International investment banks have been increasingly making ETFs the core of their actively managed portfolios,” said First Metro Asset Management, Inc. Chairman Francisco Sebastian in his speech last December 5, 2016.
“The ETF industry has achieved tremendous growth since its inception in 1993. Not surprisingly, better investor education is universally considered a key to further ETF growth in all regions,” from PwC, ETFs: A roadmap to growth.
